Dolores Madlener, matriarch of the Catholic New World, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Chicago, noted the second printing of On the Job in her regular "Church Clips" column. In the April 25 feature, Madlener wrote, "In his fast-moving 200 pages, Smith has set down 19 stories from rookies, veteran officers and retirees (yearning to be back in the saddle). They’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly."
On the Job author Daniel P. Smith, an award-winning journalist, is a regular contributor to the Catholic New World.
